Check out what is going on in our Region under News - Local Arts Events.  There is lots to chase away those winter blues for those of us not travelling to warmer climes!

I had asked for input on the choir uniform and for ideas of songs to sing as sing-alongs at our concert. I'm thinking of maybe having a medley of folk/campfire/traditional songs and a medley of pop/rock/radio songs, so that we can sing more!

    What do you think?

Some people have emailed me and have commented on my blog. That's great! Thanks!

You can also have a conversation about both topics here on the website in the Forum section. I'll start them off. This way, it's easy to keep track of all the ideas that are floating around.

Sign up for the bilingual small group starting Monday, January 30th at 6:30.

We're singing V'la l'bon vent! (Go, Good Wind!)

There are 10 spots for this song, and although it's in 2 parts, I hope to get a tenor or two.

Sign up here on the Events page.

Don't forget! We're at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Aurora this Monday, January 16th!

Members should have all received an email, but can also find this information on our Google Calendar. There are several links to the calendar on this website and there are links to the calendar on my blog as well. There are links to my blog in a couple of different places on this website as well. Click around. Make yourself at home.

On my blog, Renate's Baton, I write about each rehearsal during the week after. If you missed it, you'll know what we did while you were away. And, I post which songs we will be singing the following Monday, so you can prepare if you like. We don't always do all the things that I plan to do, but it's pretty close.

Also on the blog, I listed a number of Canadian songs for you to consider if you want to create a small group or sing a solo. We have a lot of folk music in our repertoire, so please consider a pop song. There are tons of great songs written by Canadians.

We also have a Facebook page you can follow for news and musical stuff.

We do our best to communicate with you. Please do your part and read all choir emails, especially before each Monday, and look our for news on the website, here, on my blog and on Facebook.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Happy school break and happy statutory holidays, if you don't celebrate Christmas!

Enjoy your break and rest well.

On Monday, January 9th we start a new season. Our theme in 2017 is Celebrating Canada, as Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Soloists, think about a Canadian pop song you might like to sing. Maybe there's a small group piece you'd like to suggest. Send you ideas my way, and I'll see if it will fit.

I'll post the new list of songs on my blog soon, and we'll get the recordings up soon, too.

Don't forget to get your binder to Lyn so that she can file away the Christmas music and fill it with your spring music for January 9th.

Choristers, please put your binders in order for the concert run-through on Monday.

Go to Members Only, then Concert Order.

Consider using tabs or flags to find the first songs of each set.
