On my blog, I'm trying to write a review of what we did each week at choir, and which songs we're going to do the following week. So, if you miss a Monday, you can catch up, and if you've got some time, you can look ahead to next week's songs.
To read the blog, simply go to links, even without logging in, and click on Renate's Baton Our Director's Blog.

Please let me know if you want to do one of the solos in our choir pieces, and which one you'd prefer. Send me an email or let me know at choir on Monday. I will assign solos, but it helps if I know which songs you actually like, or don't like for that matter. I have a good idea of who is willing and able to sing solos, but if you haven't done one before and you don't let me know that you're willing, then you'll probably never get asked. For a list of all the solos, go to my blog.

Also, if you are interested in singing a solo piece or a duet with someone, let me know. A few people have already spoken up, but I have heard about others who were thinking about it, and there are some of you who have sung solos in the past that might want to do one again. Sometime within the next month or so, I'll choose 4 solo or duet songs, based on our theme and the rest of the repertoire, and on what will fit in the show.

The first meeting of the YRCC for 2013 will take place on Monday, January 7th in the Seminar Room at the York Region Administrative Centre on Yonge St.

We are looking forward to having more space in our new room! Our old room was getting too small, so we asked the Police Choir to switch with us. Thank you, YRPMC!

Don't forget to hand in your binder to Trix before the new year. Contact her if you still haven't done so. Hopefully you can make arrangements to get your binder to Trix in time. If you don't, you won't have the music for the new season.

Go to YouTube and you'll find that Gerry has posted recordings which his wife, Heather has made of our concerts! Search YRCC and you can see them all if you look at Gerry's page.

Here's the schedule of "volunteers" helping Lauren with the equipment set up and take down.

Please coordinate within your foursome to ensure that there are 2 people there early (pre-small group) and 2 people staying after. If you will be away, please trade weeks with someone else.

Lauren will continue to announce the next "volunteers" at choir but many of you have asked to know ahead of time so here you go...

Our participation in the November 3rd Anniversary Celebration at St. Andrew's Church in Aurora was greatly appreciated and all of us there enjoyed it immensely.

We have another opportunity to sing for a community group that has supported us in the past and that we have personal connections to.

Please sign up (register) to sing at Trinity United Church in Newmarket on Saturday, December 1st, after dinner (TBA) in the Events section.

For several years in a row the YRCC performed for the Trinity United Church Gala Dinner which takes place every year on the first Saturday of December. We would sing 4 or 5 songs and then members of the church performed and they also do their own Christmas sing along. We weren't able to participate last year, but I would like us to go again this year. It's the evening before our big concert, so we'll have to be sure not to strain ourselves and to make sure we get enough sleep.

We're well on our way with all of our pieces now.

I just announced that we're dropping Welcome, Welcome Winter for this year. We have to do it next year. It's an awesome song, and I'm disappointed that we're not able to sing it this winter, but we need to work on the stuff we have in the time that we have left.

Please review your music whenever you have a chance and make use of the sound recordings online in the Resources section of the Members-only content. (If you're encountering any challenges with downloading and creating song files or CD's please contact Trix for help. She's quite willing to walk you through the process.)

If you miss a rehearsal, go to my blog to see what you missed. I've been posting what we do each week. Just look for the post titled with the date you missed.

Last night Renate and Sapphire stayed late after rehearsal and recorded the small group music for the Website.  Please take a moment to check it out, it will help enormously in getting as much out of our short rehearsals as we can!

Carol of the Bells is now uploaded as well.

Also, they recorded the "tricky bit" in Hymn to Freedom, the "ahhhs".  You can download this and play it over and over again until you get it, or until your family begs you to turn it off!  LOL!
