A big round of applause, a pat on the back, kudos, accolades, any which way you say it, you deserve it! I'm so so so proud of my choir! The YRCC is a wonderful bunch of talented people! Our show was so much fun and so magical, I was euphoric! Thank you to each and every member for your contribution to the success of our concert. Your efforts paid off.
    Your director loves you!

We're in need of Tenors and Basses for the next 3 performances: Dec.16 at Barton, Dec.21 at Hillary House, and Dec.23 at Aurora Resthaven. Please sign up, so I can relax! Two of those are on Monday nights, choir night, and it's only an hour. You can do it! And, it's so worthwhile!

I'd also like to see more Altos at Hillary House.

Hillary House is a national historic site, a museum run by the Aurora Historical Society. It's been decorated with traditional Christmas decorations by the Aurora Horticultural Society, and they have their usual displays. We get in free to enjoy the museum and we get to sing in their ballroom. It should be really special.

These special shows that we do are really rewarding and much less stressful than our concert. We get to perform our beautiful songs that we worked on so hard, and do some simple holiday singing, plus, it's fun and much less formal. The audience is small and we get to interact with them. Come and see!

I wish we could do more of them, and I wish we could have everyone participate.

As most of you know, Sandra is in Calgary for her father's funeral. The executive has sent flowers and expressed condolences on behalf of the whole choir. But, some of you will want to reach out to her individually. If you'd like to send individual condolences to Sandra and her family, choir members have access to Sandra's contact information in the members-only section of the website. It's also easy to do through the funeral home website. Here's a link to Sandra's father's page.
I have also posted this information on my blog.

Please read the rehearsal review and preview on my blog. Click here.
Kit, Gerry, Sophie, and Robyn are scheduled to help with equipment for the next 2 weeks. Please consider whether you'd like to order poinsettias to decorate the church for our concert.
Thank you to those who've signed up for our upcoming performances! Please go to the events page and to the calendar to find dates that work for you and sign up.

Whenever you miss a rehearsal or if you want to get ahead, take some time to look at my blog and see what we did and what I'm planning for next Monday. This week, I'm asking you to listen to the recordings of Banks of Newfoundland and look at your music for So Long Farewell and mark the parts that you will be singing. There's a fair bit of jumping up and down in the lines, especially for Altos. Here's a direct link.

A few new things on the website:

    1. Renate has recorded the VOCALS for Song for Canada, to help us with our French pronounciation.  You can find it in the recordings area.

    2. The musical notation for the special Amen has been posted.  You can find it in the music area, underneath Go Now In Peace.

    3. We've added a "Quicklinks" area on the front page, which will take you directly (once logged in) to the most common areas of our site.

    4. To come, an F.A.Q. area (Frequently Asked Questions).  If you have any, let me know or post them on the forum and we'll ensure they are added.

    Cheers from Trix ;-)

People have been wondering where they can find out when the small groups are meeting.

When you want information about scheduling, our Calendar is the place to go.

The Calendar is available by signing in and going to the Members Only section. Several links to the Calendar can be found there (under links to resources it's called Google Calender and under links for members it's called events calendar). There is also a link to the Calendar on my blog (left-hand column where it says links).

FYI: the 12 Groovy Days group is meeting at 6:30 tomorrow, October 21st.

Next week, 6:30 Somewhere My Love, 7:00 Groovy, 9:30 Nova Scotia.

Tip: use the "Agenda" view to see more on a page.

Do you know which weeks you're expected to help with the equipment?
Go to the Members only section, under Links to Resources.
Click on the link to the roster.

Each member of the choir is expected to help out for 2 weeks a year.  That's only 2 Mondays.

If you know you'll be away on those dates, switch with someone. If you can't be there early to set up, then plan to stay late to put things away. Talk to the other people who are scheduled to help during your weeks and make a plan for who's coming in early and who's staying late. If you have any questions, ask someone on the executive.
