People often ask us about children's choirs in our area.

There aren't many, but there is the York Region Children's Chorus which is auditioned and a really big deal. It's in Richmond Hill. There's my Teen Choir at Trinity United Church and our Jr. Choir too. Other churches probably have choirs for kids. But, it would be nice to have a community choir for kids, something un-auditioned, up here too.

The auditions for the YR Children's Chorus are on Wednesday, May 28 and Wednesday, June 4th. The season runs during the school year on Wednesday nights.

Here's the info:

Another season of the York Region Children’s Chorus is beginning soon! The York Region Children’s Chorus celebrates its 32nd season starting in September. The choir sings all different genres, from classical to pop and jazz music.

Rehearsals run from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm every Wednesday night.

Interested students who will be starting Grade 5 in September, up to Grade 12 are welcome to attend our auditions on either of the following dates beginning at 6 pm: Wednesday May 28th and Wednesday June 4th.

The auditions are at Redstone Public School, located at 235 Redstone Rd, Richmond Hill, south of Elgin Mills, west of Leslie.

Please be prepared to sing a short piece of music for the choir director without any piano accompaniment.

Audition time spots will be assigned on a first come, first serve basis, starting at 6 pm and running until 8 pm.

Students interested in auditioning should email our director Mrs. Olivia Côté
at Olivia.cote@yrdsb.ca or email YRCC Manager Fran Fainer at Francine.fainer@yrdsb.ca

We hope to see you at our audition! Bring a few friends to audition with you, as well!
